トマコマイ物語

1800年、寛政12年に、蝦夷地（現在の北海道）の警備と開拓のために、八王子から八王子千人同心が勇武津（現在の勇払）に入植しました。過酷な自然条件の中、彼らはわずか4年間でこの土地を離れましたが、苫小牧の礎を築きました。1873年、開拓使は勇払郡出張所を苫細（現在の苫小牧）に移転し、これを苫小牧の開基としました。元々は広い地域を占める苫小牧村でしたが、数回の分村を経て境界が縮小され、大正7年から苫小牧町となりました。

In 1800, in the 12th year of the Kansei Era, the Hachioji Senjin Doshin from Hachioji settled in Yubutsu (present-day Yufutsu) for the purpose of guarding and cultivating the Ezo region (present-day Hokkaido). Under harsh natural conditions, they left the area after only four years, but laid the foundation for Tomakomai, which was established in 1873 when the Kaitakushi moved the Yufutsu County Sub-branch to Tomahoso (present-day Tomakomai), which became the foundation of Tomakomai. Originally, Tomakomai Village occupied a large area, but the boundaries were reduced through several village divisions, and the town became Tomakomai-cho in 1918.
